How it works

How to use the URL Encoder tool

  1. 1

    Paste text or a URL

Anything you need in a link.

  2. 2

    Choose the mode

    Query value or full URL.

  3. 3

    Copy

Use it in links, APIs and redirects.

Which mode?

“Query value” (encodeURIComponent) encodes everything except letters, digits and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ) — use it for individual parameter values. “Full URL” (encodeURI) leaves URL structure like :/?&= intact — use it for whole links containing spaces or Unicode.

Limitations

We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:

  • Doesn’t validate whether the URL exists.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or logged.

Why is a space %20?

Spaces aren’t allowed in URLs; %20 is their percent-encoded form. In form data, + is also used.
