How it works

How to use the Extract Audio tool

  1. 1

    Add a video

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI.

  2. 2

    Choose the format

MP3 for compatibility, WAV for editing, M4A for Apple devices, OGG for the web.

  3. 3

    Download

    Save the audio file.

Which format to pick

WAV is uncompressed — best for editing in Audacity, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve. MP3 plays everywhere. M4A (AAC) gives slightly better quality at the same size and suits iPhones and iTunes. OGG Vorbis is open and widely supported on the web.

Limitations

We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:

  • 300 MB per file.
  • WAV files are large (~10 MB per minute).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to FreeToolsDaily or anyone else.

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the FFmpeg engine (about 30 MB). It’s cached afterwards, so later conversions start almost instantly.

Is there a file size limit?

Up to 300 MB per file. Processing happens in your browser’s memory, so very long or 4K videos may be slow on older phones.
