SIP calculator
Estimate how much a regular monthly investment could grow to, with or without an annual step-up.
How it works
How to use the SIP Calculator tool
- 1
Enter your monthly SIP
The amount you plan to invest every month.
- 2
Set return and duration
Enter an expected annual return and how many years you'll invest.
- 3
Add a step-up (optional)
Increase your SIP every year to see how it accelerates growth.
The SIP formula
FV = P × [((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where P is the monthly investment, i is the monthly rate of return (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. The final (1 + i) reflects that each instalment is invested at the start of the month, the convention Indian mutual fund calculators use.
Example: 10,000 a month for 10 years at 12% per year means investing 12,00,000, with an estimated value of about 23,23,391.
The power of a step-up
Raising your SIP in line with your income makes a big difference. Increasing a 10,000 SIP by 10% every year for 15 years at 12% grows the estimated final value from about 50.5 lakh to about 86.8 lakh, roughly 70% more than a flat SIP, because the larger later instalments compound on top of the earlier ones.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Real returns are not constant and are not guaranteed; markets go up and down.
- Expense ratios, exit loads and taxes aren't deducted.
- This calculator is for education and planning, not financial advice.
