Password generator
Create strong, unique passwords that are generated — and stay — on your device.
How it works
How to use the Password Generator tool
- 1
Choose length
16 characters or more is recommended.
- 2
Pick character types
Uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
- 3
Copy
Generate as many as you need.
Truly random
Passwords use your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with unbiased sampling, and every selected character type is guaranteed to appear. Nothing is transmitted or stored.
How strong is strong?
Strength is measured in bits of entropy. 64+ bits resists online attacks comfortably; 100+ bits is beyond any foreseeable brute-force attack. A 16-character password using all four types has about 104 bits.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Use a password manager to store passwords — don’t reuse them.
