How it works
How to use the Sign PDF tool

- 2
Create your signature
Draw it with a mouse or finger, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature.
- 3
Place and download
Drag the signature into position, add a date if needed, and download the signed PDF.
Electronic vs. digital signatures
This tool adds a visual electronic signature — an image of your signature placed on the page. That’s accepted for most everyday paperwork such as rental agreements, school forms, offer letters and invoices. It is different from a certificate-based digital signature (like Aadhaar eSign or DocuSign certificates), which cryptographically proves identity and is required for some legal and government filings.
Private by design
Your signature and document are processed only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and your signature isn’t saved anywhere after you close the page.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Creates a visual signature, not a cryptographic digital certificate.
- Typed signatures and text support Latin characters.
- Signing a PDF that already has a certified digital signature will invalidate that certificate, as with any edit.
