How it works

How to use the PDF to Excel tool

  1. 1

    Upload a PDF

Works best with digital PDFs that contain real text (not scans).

  2. 2

    Convert

Rows and columns are detected from how the text lines up.

  3. 3

    Open in Excel

Download the XLSX — one sheet per page, or all on one sheet.

How tables are detected

PDFs don’t store tables — just text at positions. FreeToolsDaily groups text on the same line into rows, then finds column positions shared across the page so values line up. Numbers are converted to real numeric cells, while codes with leading zeros stay as text.

Limitations

We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:

  • Merged cells and cells with multiple lines of text may split across rows.
  • Scanned PDFs need OCR first.
  • Charts and images aren’t exported.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to FreeToolsDaily or anyone else.

Will it work with my bank statement?

Most digital bank statements convert well. Check the totals after converting, as layouts vary by bank.

Why is everything in one column?

Some PDFs space columns very tightly. Try a different export of the document or copy the table into Excel manually.
