How to use the Excel to JSON tool

XLSX, XLS, ODS or CSV.

Choose structure
Objects keyed by header (default) or arrays of rows.

Download
Pretty-printed or compact JSON.
Typed output
Numbers stay numbers, booleans stay booleans, and dates become ISO 8601 strings. Workbooks with several sheets produce an object keyed by sheet name.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Empty cells become null.
- Formulas are exported as their last calculated values.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to FreeToolsDaily or anyone else.
What if my sheet has no header row?
Turn off “First row is a header” to get arrays of values.
Keep going
