How to use the Time Calculator tool

Time between two times, or add/subtract durations.

Use h:mm or h:mm:ss.

Read the total
In h:mm:ss and decimal hours.
Overnight shifts
If the end time is earlier than the start (for example 22:30 to 06:15), the end is treated as the next day: 7 h 45 min.
Decimal hours for payroll
Payroll often needs decimal hours: 7 h 45 min = 7.75 hours.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Doesn’t account for daylight-saving time changes.
