How it works

How to use the PDF to Text tool

  1. 1

    Upload a PDF

Choose a PDF with selectable text.

  2. 2

    Extract

Paragraphs and reading order are reconstructed automatically.

  3. 3

    Download

Save a UTF-8 .txt file, or copy from the preview.

Clean, readable output

Instead of dumping text line by line, FreeToolsDaily rebuilds paragraphs and joins words hyphenated across lines, so the text reads naturally. Page markers help you find where text came from.

Limitations

We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:

  • Scanned PDFs have no text layer — use OCR PDF.
  • Text in multi-column layouts may interleave columns.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to FreeToolsDaily or anyone else.

Why is the output empty?

The PDF is probably a scan. Use OCR PDF to recognise the text first.

Which encoding is used?

UTF-8, which supports every language.
