Where the rates come from
Rates are the euro foreign-exchange reference rates published by the European Central Bank each working day around 16:00 CET, delivered via the free, open-source Frankfurter API. The publication date is always shown, and rates are never invented or estimated.
Why your bank’s rate differs
Banks, card networks and money-transfer services add a margin to the mid-market rate and may charge fees, so the amount you actually receive will usually be lower.
Limitations
We’d rather be upfront about what this tool can’t do yet:
- Rates update once per working day — not real-time.
- About 30 major currencies are covered by the ECB.
